Innovative Relief from Depression
Clarity Health Care now offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at our Sandy Bay clinic. This non-invasive, medication-free treatment is clinically proven to help some adults with major depressive disorder who haven’t responded to traditional antidepressants. TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain linked to mood regulation. It’s delivered in a series of outpatient sessions – with no need for sedation, no systemic side effects, and no disruption to your daily life. You’ll be awake and alert throughout each session.

TMS Q&A
What is TMS Therapy?
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive, drug-free outpatient therapy that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain responsible for mood regulation – specifically targeting the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. It’s offered for adults with treatment‑resistant depression at Clarity Health Care’s Sandy Bay clinic.
What does a full course of TMS treatment at Clarity look like?
Typically, treatment involves 20–30 sessions over 4–6 weeks. Follow‑up or maintenance sessions may also be arranged.
What outcomes can patients expect from TMS therapy?
Clinical studies show about 49 % of patients respond and 32 % achieve full remission – significantly higher than third‑line antidepressants (17 % response; 14 % remission).
Who might be suitable for TMS therapy?
TMS may be suitable for adults (18+) diagnosed with major depressive disorder who haven’t responded to at least two antidepressants, are looking for non‑medication alternatives, or are unsuitable for ECT.
Are there any contraindications or who should avoid TMS?
TMS is not recommended for individuals with certain metal implants, neurostimulators, specific seizure disorders, or other contraindications. Suitability should be assessed with a GP or psychiatrist.
