My practice is holistic, culturally responsive, and client-focused. This means that the approach I take to therapy is “shared”: I’m not here to tell you what to “do” with your life or what’s “wrong” with it, but here to help you feel good about yourself and grow in a way that feels comfortable and safe, knowing that in life we often face a lot of significant barriers and none of it is necessarily our (or anyone else’s) fault.
I really enjoy working with people from different communities using an explicitly LGBTQIA+ affirming, gender inclusive, neurodivergent affirming and trauma-informed model of care. These seem like a lot of big words but that main theme is that I would love to meet you as the person you are, in this present moment. There is no need to change or distort yourself according to unfair or unrealistic “shoulds” or “should nots”. Even though I don’t offer couples therapy, I am poly, kink and queer friendly, and am openly queer.
I speak conversational Mandarin, and while I am not able to offer sessions in Mandarin due to the limits of my professional training, I actively welcome and enjoy working with people from different cultures, including people who are also Chinese. I also enjoy working with people in palliative care, exploring end of life concerns, and love learning about intersectional, anti-oppressive approaches in working with activists.
