When I meet a person for the first time, my goal is for them to feel welcome, heard, accepted and validated. I have a warm, authentic and empathic nature which tends to put people at ease. My non judgemental approach allows people to talk openly about difficult topics. I consider the ‘whole person’ using a strengths based bio-psycho-social approach. I take into account their personal history, support networks, family structure, lifestyle, environment, health and more. I take a detailed account of the presenting issue, what they have already tried, and their therapy goals.
I use a combination of ACT, CBT, DBT, MI and narrative approaches. There is no one size fits all for everyone. As a Social Worker, I have had a broad and diverse career in different settings – hospital, non government organisations, EAP, private practice and in substance use. This has given me a deep knowledge of the human condition and awareness of other support services that may be of benefit to clients. All of this combines to provide a well rounded compassionate recovery focused care to clients
